81' Z28 parts on 81' 350 truck motor

Men,

From another good Craigslist score (free), I came into possession of some original parts from an 81' Z28 (aluminum 4 brl intake manifold for a 350, cast iron exhaust mainfolds, air breather, smog equipment, distributor, etc.) I recently picked up an 81' vintage 350 4 bolt main truck motor with 50-60k on the rebuild for $ 300.00 (also from Craiglist). The motor came sans exhaust manifolds and air breather. Can these exhaust manifolds work in my truck or should I go to the bone yard and pull some off of truck? I am swapping out the intake that came on the motor for the one from the Z28.

Thanks,

Mike

Not sure about the exhaust manifolds. It would depend on where they place your exhaust. As long as they clear everything I would think they would be ok. My cousin has a 81 Z28, and just replaced the original intake for an Edelbrock one, and eliminated the smog stuff, dist, and computer. He said it was like night and day. He was told that the intake on the 81 Camaro was extremely restrictive. May be something to consider.

Thanks JohnC..........That is definitely something to think about. I am trying to do this on a budget but, still have it look good and run. I may just opt to pull some cast iron exhaust manifolds from the junkyard not unless I can find some Ram's Horn exhaust manis from a Vette. My buddy is heading to Carlisle next week for the show

If you didnt live in Va i would say come by and get some free manifolds. I scored 2 virgin 4 bolt long block 350 truck engines for free(both 3/4 ton). The heads are garbage with those tiny valves. Also got a 454HO(going in my stepper) with folding stand and an extra alum intake for $500. Also a free 700r out of a z28 thats soon to go in the trash. Currently using Edelbrock smog headers but they arent cheap. Just keep scrounging the yards. We have alot here in So Cal.

Thanks karl. Too bad you are not close to LA or I would have my cousin come by and pick those manifolds up and ship them to me. I found a set on an 83' but they had air holes in them..........
