Clogged Fuel Tank Outlet

I have a 72, the one with three lines coming out of the bottom of the tank. It sat for several years, apparently with fuel in it. Anybody got any good advice on how to get the main outlet line unclogged?

I've already tried air pressure, carb cleaner and safety wire but that thing is stopped up tight. I'm half tempted to cut it off a little shorter so I don't have to go through all the bends and shove a coat hanger in it.

You could possibly take it to a radiator shop to see if they can rod it out with their cleaning solutions.

Here's what I did to mine. I replaced it with a straight tube that I bent to match the one I took out just in case I wasn't able to clean it out.

After I tried the same things you did, I went out and bought a stranded wire cable that was thin enough to be inserted into the tube. I then worked it in and out, twisted it, forced it in and out from both sides. All the time squirting carb cleaner into the tube. Took me about an hour but I got it done. Now I have it stored in my garage for future use.

Since I retired I've been in the process of building out in the country 30 miles outside of Bryan/Coll Sta towards Somerville. So actually I'm homeless.

Mine ended up being plugged in the pickup tube inside the tank. I pulled it out and blew it out with air. The screen in there is rotten so I may end up buying a new tank unit. Or... If the sender portion works I was thinking about just getting some stainless steel screen and a hose clamp.

Do you live in your truck? Is that what you mean by "between Houston and Waco"? Is it wherever you stop for the night :-)
