How many have slept in their 67-72 Chevy/GMC Pickup/Suburban/Blazer/Jimmy, and why?

I only ask because I spent the last two nights in my '72 'burb. Pretty good for only owning it for 7 days now.

Friday night was because I took my two older boys 'camping'. I was in the front seat, and they were in the other two. VERY uncomfortable for me, since I am 6'1". Very cramped.

Last night (Saturday) was because we (me, wife, three sons) took an emergency trip to Winslow (it happens) and their wasn't any room at the in-laws. Me being the cheapskate I am, said, "Look, we still have the bedding from camping...". I took out the rear seat, two older boys slept on the front and middle seat, wife, 7-week old son, and I slept in the back on the floor. MUCH more comfortable back there, but I forgot that there isn't any insulation in the floor, and got cold from the bottom-side.

Looking forward to sleeping in my bed tonight!

I have also slept in the '69 a time or two, by either breaking down out in the middle of nowhere, or getting locked out of somewhere, or too tired to drive anymore.

I have done it too.
I had to get from Fort Knox Kentucky to Fort Hood Texas, and didn't want to waste any time getting away from KNox. (crappy post) So I left at 5 P.M. I ended up sleeping at a road side rest. Since I didn't want to get all my gear stollen, it was a little more cramped in the cab that night.
I hung my BDU's in the deivers side window, plced my duffle bag on passenger floor board, used my 1/4 filled laundy bad as a pillow, and curled my knees under the steering wheel and used my poncho liner as a blanket. (tool box and more crap on dvr floor board)
I slept like a baby too.
The poncho liners make awsome travel/couch blankets. if you have a surplus store around, see if they have one. You'll love it.

haven't slept in 67-72

but did sleep in 63 nova.... in the garage

leaking roof, in house (in middle of getting new roof, got tired of rain hitting face.)..

then there was the time I slept in back of a VW baja bug. Too bad search and rescue were looking for us the next day. Made a good story, but my legs were CRAMPED...2 baja's 6 FULL SIZE people...you do math...

O yea, hadn't eatin for 24hrs, or had anything to drink, and I was covered in mud.

first vehicle ive ever slept in was in a 72 bel air, i have slept in at least 10, slept in my first 68 c10 a few times, and etc. height doesnt always make it uncomfortable, it also depends on how scrawny ya are, fortuemately i can curl up pretty much on a bench seat even though im 6' tall

i have oh i have plenty of times. sell mostly taken naps. just chilling and haven the leg hang out , nice day, good music, i'm out for 1 to 2 hours.

the only time i have ever slept was when every one fell asleep but there was no room left so i decided to sleep in the the 67 (jessica) woke up nice and then when inside to wake everyone up cause they all had gotten drunk.

I was on a fishing trip in eastern washington...figured sleeping in the bed was more comfortable than the ground at a couple of places.

so far the closest thing to sleeping ive doen in my truck was laying in the seat and talking on the phone, but i did lay down and sleep in my dads 89 for about an hour one day when i was sick and was out working at my neighbors farm

Never slept in the 69. Slept in the 92 twice, first time left the windows closed and woke up suffocating, not smart by any means. Second time at a party, its cramped(I am 6' 3")not comfortable and now I have buckets so i really don't think I will do it again.

Well, I've slept in the 68 a few times. The first time was after our family reunion, our house was packed...so I slept in the bed of it. A rolled up flannel against a pair of headers actually isn't too bad. The other time, I was working nights, and my mother decided to stay home from work...she was "sick", but up around moving furniture...she knew I was trying to sleep, but just HAD to get the house rearranged for no reason whatsoever....so me, being unhappy, grabbed the keys to the truck, a blanket, a pillow, and pulled her in the garage. I ran an extension cord in through the wing window, and ran a tiny space heater (it was the middle of winter, and it was one that doesn't have exposed elements, and has a little fan), turned it on medium, curled up, and slept for 5 hours (my usual)...no problem. Have yet to sleep in the panel, but think I could do it comfortably since there's nothing in the back at all.

I haven't in my '72, but when I had my NEW '78 I got slightly intoxicated and woke up the next day in a strange parking lot with a big ol gal next to me in the cab. Couldn't have done anything with her, nah couldn't have. Oh yeah, this was before the wife. Other time was driving the '91 Grand Caravan to Myrtle Beach, pulled off and slept about four hours in the drivers seat. Leans back and was comfortable. Several times in High School in a '64 Belvedere in the back. Bonfires, sleep outs etc.

slept in my 71 a bunch during work last summer, when we would finish early and stuff, but my first all nighter in it was a couple weeks ago, we had a party at a beach near my house, river, 4 wheelers, 4x's, girls, drinks, etc, i had brought a tent but some drunk guy was riding his banshee all night and i didnt want t get run over in my tent, so i slept on the bench seat of the 71, my friend slept in the bed(i bet that hurculiner was pretty rough, prob didnt feel it because of his condition at the time, one time my friend passed out in his toyota so we put it in neutral and pushed it at least 500 yardsdown the road, he sh!t when he woke up the next morning.

I slept in the back of my 67 Panel quite a bit.I never had a DUI though.It's pretty comfortable since a single bed matteress fits across the space behind the seats and between the seats and wheel wells.
I haven't slept in the 68 because I don't drink anymore and have managed to stay on the wifes good side so far.

I use to sleep in my truck quite often. But I must confess that I kind of cheated. I had a sleeper made to go behind the cab. It was 3ft deep by 6 1/2 ft wide and 24 inches tall.
I was insolated had lights and a 12 volt tv mounted in one corner. A little rough to turn over in but still comfortable.

When I reported to my last duty station at Great Lakes, we got there late in the night and there were no rooms anywhere around. We all(wife and 4 kids) ended up sleeping in the Suburban in a rest stop. The seats aren't very comfortable but I've learned to sleep anywhere anytime in the Navy. Jeff.

I'VE SLEPT IN THE BACK OF THE BLAZER ALOT OF TIMES. I'VE GOT A QUEEN SIZE BLOW-UP MATTRESS THAT FITS LIKE A GLOVE BETWEEN THE WHEELWELLS, SO IT'S DOWNRIGHT COMFY. ONE SPOT WHERE I LIKE TO DUCK HUNT IS 75 MILES AWAY, SO I USUALLY SPEND AT LEAST 1 NIGHT. IT'S NOT TO BAD, UNLESS SOMEBODY FEEDS MY BLACK LAB HUMAN FOOD (SHE GETS REALLY BAD DIGESTIVE GASSES)

haha good thread. ive slept in my truck several times. a few times because i was camping and sleeping in the bed with an air matress sounded better than sleeping in a crowded tent with my drunken buddies. and a few times because i had a few hours to kill so i rolled the window down and hung my feet out side and took a snooze on the bench seat. god i love longbeds. i couldnt sleep in my truck otherwise (im 6'4) and i also love bench seats. wouldnt buy a short bed bucket seat truck for anything.

just last friday night i went up camping with a bunch of buddies, i slept in a buds mazda b2200, those things are tiny when you are about 6'2, i slept for about 6 hours and woke up, all the windows were foggy, so i rolled one down and stretched my legs out, felt damn good but the fking sun was in my face and i was soo dehidrated..haah good times

I'm going to be sleeping in the 'burb again on Wednesday and Thursday night in Winslow! By then it will be four nights out of th 13 I've owned it! I ought to sell the house & move into the 'burb!

And to think, my wife didn't like the 'burb. It's growing on her!

We considered sleeping on the rack on top, but figured we would get too cold. That rack is 6'10" long, & about 5' wide. I crawled up there to check for fit. It's COMFY!

I slept in the back of a 1971 long bed truck when a bunch of guys when camping. Set up the air mattress, opened the sides on the camper shell. Slept great.

The first time was after our family reunion, our house was packed...so I slept in the bed of it. A rolled up flannel against a pair of headers actually isn't too bad. The other time, I was working nights, and my mother decided to stay home from work...she was "sick", but up around moving furniture...she knew I was trying to sleep, but just HAD to get the house rearranged for no reason whatsoever....so me, being unhappy, grabbed the keys to the truck, a blanket, a pillow, and pulled her in the garage. I ran an extension cord in through the wing window, and ran a tiny space heater (it was the middle of winter, and it was one that doesn't have exposed elements, and has a little fan), turned it on medium, curled up, and slept for 5 hours (my usual)...no problem. Have yet to sleep in the panel, but think I could do it comfortably since there's nothing in the back at all. Couldn't have done anything with her, nah couldn't have. Oh yeah, this was before the wife. Other time was driving the '91 Grand Caravan to Myrtle Beach, pulled off and slept about four hours in the drivers seat. Leans back and was comfortable. Posts: 13,992	I slept in the back of my 67 Panel quite a bit.I never had a DUI though.It's pretty comfortable since a single bed matteress fits across the space behind the seats and between the seats and wheel wells. I had a sleeper made to go behind the cab. It was 3ft deep by 6 1/2 ft wide and 24 inches tall. I was insolated had lights and a 12 volt tv mounted in one corner. A little rough to turn over in but still comfortable. We all(wife and 4 kids) ended up sleeping in the Suburban in a rest stop. The seats aren't very comfortable but I've learned to sleep anywhere anytime in the Navy.
