Power steering box fitment 1967 c10 2wd

Hey guys, I may be mixed up here, but I had got it in my head somehow that I would need an adapter to fit a power steering box onto my 67 frame rail. I have been looking at it and now I'm thinking I don't need it.. Can someone set me straight please!?!?

Here is my rail, and as you can see, it has the dimples everyone talks about..

You will have to modifiy your frame or use spacers. The dimples you are refering to on your frame are the mounting bosses. Note that your frame is straight between those mounting spots. A Power steering gearbox will hit that flat section of frame before it hits those mounting points.

The dimple that you are refering to is on later frames where the frame curves inwards toward the engine in between those mounting bosses.

Also, you will need to notch your left front mount (of the radiator Core support).

All of this will make sense once you try to put the p/s gearbox onto the frame.

Also, in my copy of your picture, the section I marked up is "Dimpled in" on later 67 frames.

youll need to notch the left outer bumper bracket. also what I did was put some heat on the frame and dimpled it with a bfh

That's exactly what I was thinking before.. I searched around on the board here to see if I could find a thread on the topic and ended up confusing myself.. lol Thanks guys!

So here's a contradiction for you. My 67 GMC 910 (Oshawa built) has exactly the same frame. No dimple for the box. Small bumps too. My 1977 Chev ps box bolts right on. No spacers. And it's a real early built 67. #99 built. Go figure, eh!!!

I just put in a power steering sector on my 67 chevy with raised bosses and still had to use two 3/8 washers that I cut to make them C's so the bump on the sector didn't hit the frame. Just wanted to put that out there.

I just did my 67 c10 this past week. I ordered the steering box on line thru advance auto.com P/N sg17501. It was $124.99 plus core charge. They had 25% off so it was less than $100. I had to buy a new rag joint to go on it because the shaft on the new one was bigger. The P/N is 201. They had it in stock at the local store. You get your core charge for the steering box back at the local store when you turn it in. I only had to shim my box out using 3 thin washers between the frame and box. Your also going to need a new pitman arm. I just went to a local auto part store and got one for a 1975 with power steering.

My 67 C-10 didn't need any adaptors or any mods to frame, core support, bumper brackets or inner wheel house. Vin tag decodes to a truck built at the Atlanta assembly plant in October which was the beginning of the model year.

will other years fit the 67, looking to replace a stock power box.
everything you look up starts at 68 no mention of 67.

If you have a power steering box mounted on the frame someone may have already changed it , the 67's came with ram assist power steering so the hydraulics would be mounted to the steering linkage and not use a frame mounted power steering box , My 67 was manual and I converted it to power using the later model system .

The original 1967 power assist steering looked like this. It was prone to leaks. 1968 and up were the power steering sectors. If your '67 frame has a power sector it has been added at some point. As mentioned the frame area will need to be dimpled to allow the larger power steering sector to mount up properly though some have used spacers to achieve the same clearance. There are numerous threads on here at your fingertips.

I bought a whole setup from summit https://www.summitracing.com/parts/clp-6772psks the gearbox bolted right on the hoses didn't fit without cutting the inner fender and the pump brackets didn't fit with the small water pump . but I bet if you called them you could buy just the gearbox
