Will this work in my '64?
I posted before about mine jumping out of 3rd gear under power. I came across this one but don't know if it's the right one for my truck. I don't know anything about transmissions .....anyone?

It will bolt to your bell housing without any modifications and as long as you are still using a 10 spline clutch, you wont have to change that either. The output shaft is the later car style, so a yoke change may be necessary if your existing trans doesn't already have this output. What tranny is in the truck now?

it will more than likely fit, but I don't know what he means by resealed as that is not a new seal on the output
ron ore than likely wouldn't cost you much more to repair your old one they ususally just require new bearings and seal and perhaps a syncro. if you are going to buy another anyway and if you don't know anything about them , now is the time to learn. tear it apart and have a look and if it doesn't intinmidate you, then tackle it you are not going to loose any more ron odds are the other one more than likely could use new bearings also |

I'm not intimidated by anything mechanical, but I may be up against time barrier and don't really have time to learn it right now. I was just notified last Friday that I have a job with BLM in the El Centro area, but I'm waiting for a start date pending their background check. So I could have anywhere from sometime next week till sometime next month to 6 months from now, I just don't know, but I have to be ready when they say "go". But I do know I can do a direct transmission change with no problem.
To my knowledge, the transmission in my truck now is stock. I'm not finding other things with the truck to indicate otherwise. It's all been pretty straight forward since I bought the truck this last summer as far as nothing being hacked up other than a few "mystery wires" that I took out. There are no weird holes or strange brackets. I'm familiar with whats in a 67-72 because I've had a few of those, I'm just not familiar with 4-5-6's.

How long are the tail lengths? I've located a long and a short but I need to know which one I have.
