57 steering column removal
I am ready to remove the steering column, I have the steering wheel removed and all on the interior connectors disconnected. Do I have to unbolt the steering box to remove the steering column?
Thanks, |

Re: 57 steering column removal
Are you replacing the column and steering box? If so then you can remove the pitman arm, unbolt the box and pull the whole assemby from the firewall side. I think the column is held to the box by 4 bolts, can't remember if they are all accessible without unbolting and pulling the steering box. I have always pulled them as an assembly.

I am not replacing it right now but I want to take the cab off so I can sandblast it.

I am at the exact same spot as you but on my 72' chevy. Anyone now how to remove the steering shaft and column leaving the power steering pump on?
