s10 chassis swap question-non gm truck
My buddy has a 47 or 48 international harvester that he picked up without a frame. Anyone know if the S10 would be a good choice for a swap? I know nothing about the international trucks. I`ve seen some pictures of them and they look pretty cool.

This isn't a lot of help, but about a year ago I saw one on ebay with a S-10 frame. Good looking truck.

Yeah they are different looking butneat looking at the same time. I don`t know why he could`nt get the original frame but I was thinknig they are probably pretty close to the AD trucks soI was thinking the S10 swap might be a option for him.

Re: s10 chassis swap question-non gm truck
I have a buddy Rick Slape that used a S-10 frame for his Studabaker and he told me he would use only S-10 frames for his projects. Google his name to see his yellow AD truck. Crazy he does all this in his garage. Man has talent.

Re: s10 chassis swap question-non gm truck
I put my 49 International on a 80 GMC K20 4x4 chassis. Fits quite well.
If a lowered truck is the look you want the s-10's or Dodge Dakota are the easiest way to go.

Re: s10 chassis swap question-non gm truck
It`s my friends truck and I`m not really sure how he wants it to sit but i do recall him saying he wanted to build a rat rod out of it so I`m guessing the S10 chassis. He was talking about building a frame from scratch but in the 20 plus years I`ve known him I`ve never seen him fab up anything let alone a complete frame.

Re: s10 chassis swap question-non gm truck
I have a buddy that has a 47 IH truck on a 63-72 chevy truck frame with a fatman bolt in kit for the frame and coil spring rear end and it sits and rides great, we also put a 4.8 L V-8 with computer in it over the winter last year and runs great and gets 27-30 MPG. He is a board member on here.
His screen name is jkaylor68gmc. I know there are pics on here from some of his posts, can't miss it. It's BRIGHT YELLOW on 18 & 20 Boyd SMOOTHIE 2's |

Re: s10 chassis swap question-non gm truck
S-10 frames work pretty good under old BinderS (International Harvesters). I'am currently building a 1937 D-15 pickup on a 1987 S-10 Xtra cab short bed chassis cut down 9"s , with a Cummind 4BT, NV4500 and Cut down Dana 71and a 1941 K-2 on a 1985 S-10 regular cab long bed chassis but down 3"S with a Scout II 345 4barrel, t-98, Scout 2 dana 44 rear.
