been thinking
I've been thinking of making my 4x4 a 2x4. I know this may sound nuts but you can do so much more with a 2 wheeler . I dont know its just a thought . I already have the frame and I would like to do a frame off on the 82. I guess the reason I've been thinking of this is I miss my 71 c10 and I want to go fast agian.

If you have a good body on it, and have everything you need to do the swap, go for it. Or, it may be cheaper to sell yours and find a 2wd in nice shape. May come out ahead this way, since you have such a nice 4x4, it would be a shame to waste it. I bet you could find a 2wd just as nice for less money.
Just a thought.

I agree with Mike sell that 4x4 and get a 2wd. There are alot of guys out there that would love to have a 4x4 (me). If you really want a 2wd try to find one. Your 4x4 should be worth more. You might find a guy willing to trade.

Unless you've got a sentimental attachment to the truck, I'd sell it and buy a 2x4. If you are attached to it (I know I couldn't sell my truck) have fun with the conversion! What a great time to detail your chassis!

I thought about selling my truck but every 2 wheeler that Ive looked at here in TN is high in price. I tried to sell my truck for 2 months and got a bunch of tire kickers. I started out at 5500.00and got down to 4500.00 but no bites . so I sat back the other night and my brain started working. I have done all this work on this 4x4 , new engine, tilt wheel ,power windows and locks , steel cowl hood , complete new interior, tach dash , billet dash and a new rear bumper and brackets just to name a few things. I couldnt find this in another truck. thats what Ive been thinking. If you go to the 73-87 parts page I have a post for a step bed for sale ,That is my donor chassis. I work for Advance auto parts so I can get all my parts to rebuild the chassis pretty cheap.

Well, in that case, do it. At least you know what you have and what shape it's in. This will also give you a reason to detail each and every piece of the chassis. If you've got a place to do it, why not.
It's funny about prices of trucks. It really depends on the area you live in. Around my parts there's not really much difference between nice 4x4's and 2x4's. If they are both in pretty much the same condition, the 4x may be a tad higher, but not much. Also around here, real nice 73-87's bring a premium. Most were beat to death long ago. I say do it.
