What is this thing? (No pic)
Inside the front fenderwell on the rear of the inner well, there is a sheetmetal cover that has 3 bolts. The bolts are apparently not what holds it on, it is also spotwelded I guess. Anyway, on both sides, mine are rusted through, it's the only rust anywhere on my truck, and my plan is to fabricate a couple of new ones and weld them on. I'm just wondering what the heck they are and why they are there. Thanks.

I was wondering if you can get replacements as well?

Someone on here made their own replacements for them. I want to say it was Keith.Seymore, but I could be mistaken.
I'm with you though not real sure what they are besides braces for the inner fenders. |

Re: What is this thing? (No pic)
Yes Keith made his own. Does that mean they are discontinued or not reproduced?

Re: What is this thing? (No pic)
Thanks for thinking of me, guys -
Yes - I did make a little cover for this plate: I just traced the outside size and shape onto a piece of paper and made a template. After drilling the holes I installed the bolts and torqued them down, then tapping the edge with a hammer and screwdriver to create the little offset that you see. This one happens to be made out of stainless, which I just had laying around, but cold rolled steel would work just as well. As far as it's original usage, I don't know if it provides access to something else (I don't think so, since originally it was part of the wheelhouse) or just provides some more structure to tie the wheelhouse back to the front of dash. I didn't see any available in the aftermarket; all of the reproduced wheelhouses liners I saw did not include this piece.
