What sbc water pumps are you guys running, long or short?
Did a quick mockup last night of the sbc in my 1950 3100. I am replacing the waterpump and pulleys and am wondering if i should go to a short water pump. Just a quick look without mounting the front sheet metal yet makes me think a long water pump might not work. I have a firewall with a 2" setback and my motor mounts line right up with the center of the mustang ii crossmember to get clearence on the hei distributor. Found a great deal on a edelbrock victor waterpump but it is a long pump. And yes, I know the pulleys are different for long vs short.
Thanks

Are you gonna run AC with that? Reason I ask is because I do in my 55 and had to go with an electric fan to keep it cool. Short pump.

My pulley fan did not line up for good draw across the radiator ,fan was to low. Plus no good way to shroud it.

Long for no particular reason. It does get the fan closer to the radiator. Only accessory bracket so far that is stock is the altenator on passenger side. PS was custom fab, as will be the AC.

Long with a rad shroud. 1.5" spacer on flex fan.But I think previous owner set engine back too far as valve covers just clear the stock firewall.

Re: What sbc water pumps are you guys running, long or short?
Long water pump, but only because it was easier for the alignment of all the pulleys. I also have an electric fan mounted on the engine side of the rad, so I have no issues there. You can also mount an electric fan on the front of the rad and have it push the air through rather than pull it. That might give you more room.
