62' chevy truck with 72' front suspension ?? (brake lines)
I finally got off my lazy butt and am nearing the end of the conversion when I run into trouble with the brake lines. I still have the 62' master cylinder and 72' front suspension and brakes.
Should I run the hardlines on the back of the crossmemer like the 62' and steal the tabs off the 62' crossmember and put them on the 72' and buy 62' rubber hoses? OR Run the hardlines on the front of the crossmember like its supposed to be on the 72' and buy 72' rubber hoses, plus extened the hard line going to the rear brakes to the front of the crossmember and have it junction up there. If this all sounds confusing and you have done this swap, just tell me how you ran your front brake line and hoses. Also tell me what rubber hoses you used, 72' or 62'. Also did you redo the upper shock mount on the frame? If so what did you pull the mount off of?

Re: 62' chevy truck with 72' front suspension ?? (brake lines)
The following link should be helpful. It's a thread showing details of how I installed a 1975 front end in my 1960 GMC.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=366850 As for brake hoses I used the 1975 hoses up front, and mounted them in the frame exactly as they were in the 75 frame. I never did get the final photos posted showing the completed shock mounts, so here are a couple of pics showing the relocated upper mounts. They are the stock 1960 brackets rotated back and bolted on. Details are explained in the thread above: URL=http://img164.imageshack.us/i/frame001.jpg/][/URL] The picture quality is pretty bad but it shows where the bracket was reattached. Since I swapped in a 1975 crossmember it included disc brakes and the following pics show the hard line routing from the master cylinder to the proportioning valve on the rear of the xmbr. If yours are remaining drum brakes, I'd suggest using whatever is easiest to adapt. Just make sure the rubber hoses have full motion and don't rub anything during turns. Should you choose to upgrade to disc brakes the following thread should be helpful: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=367260 |

Re: 62' chevy truck with 72' front suspension ?? (brake lines)
you can't run disc brakes with the stock master it doesn't have the volume and it has a residual valve so the discs won't release.
some one else just did a post on brake lines recently maybe that will help, Captainfab makes some NICE master cylinder adapter brackets
