Well......... in addition to the other good qualities found on this board, inspiration is also something that this board provides.

Re: If i only.......
Ok, after looking at everybodies trucks , i felt like working on mine. Ravens65 has not seen the light of day for some time now, so after working on the wiring I pushed it out for more pictures.wires everwhere , looks very scary but if you take your time and terminate one at a time it shouldn't be so bad!
pictures also show the leather door panels, dash, and headliner . this was glued right to the metal with 3m contact adh. (the good stuff) $20.00 a can , you can also see cut outs for the wheel tubs , which were 72 fleet side inners that I sectioned 4" out of so I have 20" for the drag radials. an alum fuel cell was used and the stock tank was removed, the inner part of the cab was cut to clean up the look some ( the piece over the tank) I made a cardboard fill piece that I will fiber glass and mold speakers into so that they look like they grew there (pods), I still have to use some med. dens. partical board behind the fiberglass to give it the proper sound . I like all my fab. work to look factory!!! this panel will be painted to match the truck , I'm all out of leather ( went thru 2 whole hides ) still have enough for the glovebox , kickpanels and sun visors . Re: If i only.......
more pics, my... how dirty they get when you don't work on them!! this thing smells like a new car with all the leather . this has been the most challenging build yet , body off - nut and bolt rod-storation nothing is stock . I started with a $2500.00 truck, sold $3,000.00 worth of parts of of it and started over . I kept the frame , bellhousing, rear trailing arms and spindels - that it!!! went off the deep end , bought parts from all over the U.S. (mostly E-bay) after market front and rear fenders , a mar-k box, doors from the turkey rod run @ datona , cab from craigs list that came w/ a fleetside box (sold it ) lots of re-engineering went into this . no front inner panels and a fiberglass hood took alot of weight off the front for the 1/4mi . wife is prob. still mad about the alum. headed 383 stroker Ha! wait till she heres that I want a turbo , she already said NO to nos

Re: If i only.......
Looken good.
I like the headliner. It gave me an idea to use my old trunk mat from the Subaru Outback I just sold as a headliner. It looks exactly like yours.

Re: If i only.......
ahh the seats they are out of a 2006 cadillac srx this car(suv) had 15 miles on it when it was totaled , elec, heated and best of all leather, w/ seat belts mounted . had to make 3 out of 4 mounts on ea. not to hard though and might not fit with gas tank in cab side air bag were deployed so I will cover that plastic panel with some of the matching leather that I found on E-bay . friend of my oldest son went online @ the dealer ( he's a mech ) and printed off the wiring sch. for me - nice fit!!

Re: If i only.......
Sorry to hear your wife wants you to get rid of it.
The 1966 C-10 POS (wife's term) of mine is my therapy. If I didn't have it to study, ponder improvements and work on, I would have ended our marriage 5 years ago. She hates the color, has driven it twice and thinks it's a gas hog. Well, I don't owe any money on it, and I paid $200 for mine. It runs, but needs tires, wheels, radiator, etc. I have working lights, heater and wipers. In fact, the electrics are good front to rear and everywhere on this. Your seats are the set up I would like to put into mine, but I think my dog wouldn't care if the arm rest is there or not. She doesn't use one now, as my '66 doesn't have any on either door. I feel your pain ( emotional, that is) and hope all works out. AnlaufJohn Springfield, Oregon |
