73-87 ? cab swap please help
i am trying to help my nephew restore my grandpa's 1979 4x4 3/4 ton camper special
the body is shot.. but i think he can get the frame and running gear back in shape I want to know if my 1984 chevy 2wd cab,doors and bed will fit ? will the 79 fenders and hood bolt to the 84 cab? i think the hinges are different? hey guys any help here would be great I know i can search and probably find this out but hopefully someone out there can help me figure this out quicker ..Im more famililer with 67-72s to make things more complicated he's from mo and i live in nc and im going to try to send my truck home this weekend if it will work for him so he can drive the 84 while he works on grandpa's 79. thanks for any info you can throw this way |

They will fit up with the older stuff. But, there are minor differences, in things like the gas filler areas, and tailgates for instance. As you mentioned, bolt the older fenders and hood on to keep it looking the same up front. Yes, they do use different hinges. And GOOD LUCK with the project. Sounds like a great reason behind it.

I will be doing the same thing 74-80 front on a 81-87 cab. As I was talking to someone you will need the hump from the 4x4 cab welded into the 2wd cab. Clearance for the transfer case. My 4x4 cab is also shot, but my daily driver right now has a good 85 2wd cab which will be going on my 74 4x4 build. I am doing a complete overhaul myself. I am working on boxing in my frame filling all unused holes, timely process. I hope it will be worth it and not to stiff. I am using 2 frames and making 1 that way all holes will line up.
