Do a search of this site, its been discussed many times. A bonded title is not a bad thing unless you believe the truck was stolen at some time. Its gives public notice to anyone having a legal interest in the truck a time period to step forward. If they don't you get a clear title with what ever VIN the state chooses to use. On your truck there should be a vin stamped on the drivers side top frame rail near the steering box and on the same frame rail under the cab.

I don't know TX law, but if you know someone who owns a towing business they can help you if they're willing. A towing business can apply for a title if a vehicle has been towed in and nobody claims it within a certain time period. Around here, it costs around $300 but that's about the same price you'll pay for an open "historical document" with a VIN that's not really yours. At least this way, it's your title for your truck.

Re: documents for a 55-59

get a business licence and then put a lien on the truck for storage fees and obtain a title that way
