63 c10 rear step notch/new rear clip help

Hello peeps....I want to pretty much lay out the bed.....I have done it before with a huge step notch but that truck had leaf springs, My 63 has trailing arms which you all now hit the frame at one point or another. How low can I go by leaving the arms and using axle mounted brackets for the bags?Any pics of those?I am trying to avoid making a new rear frame piece but is that the only way to lay out?The step notch is around $180 and the metal which I need is half of the price.....any ideas as to whats the best way ?I have done lots of research and browsed through many pics but no close ups or measurements as to the lenght of the cuts,angles, etc. thanks

This low w/OE truck arms, step notch, & bags relocated to the rear axle tubes. The 2nd pic is typical of the arrangement...

ok thats sick......Thats good for me....so all i need is the notch...any ideas as to where to find it cheaper?or is it possible to fab something up even though the frame is tappered and not straight...This will be my second DIY bag job. The first was years ago and honestly I forgot what I did. I am on a budget and only want to have 4 switches so a basic set up will do?I want it to drop slow and up faster. What do I need? any ideas are greatly appriciated... Thanks for the quick reply

They all offer some sort of DIY step-notch kit for 6x-72 frames.

The white truck has 2" blocks on the trailing arms to get it that low. Other than that the rear set up is almost identical to the 2nd pic. As far as making a notch I think it's more cost effective to buy one, the angles are a pita to deal with. Good luck !

There have been several great posts covering the compnent topics. Scoti was nice enough to link to some great vendors. Spend a little time to drill down through the post here and it will help answer a lot of your questions.

wow that looks plenty low. and thats with the stock trailing arms i see. not bad..
