chassis swap question

don't know if it has heen attempted, but i was wondering if anyone has put a 47-54 pickup on a 63ish chassis. i know it is most likely a long shot, but i have a line on a very nicely done 63 chassis for cheap. if it has been done, i would like to hear how it went. thanks.

Re: chassis swap question

I"m not picking it up for 2 weeks because of all the snow. But when I do I can check everything out for you. Everyone on here said the frame is 4" wider than a stock ad frame. But the guy I'm getting it from said it's a pretty easy swap.

Re: chassis swap question

Im working on putting a 50 on a 63 SWB frame. I have to narrow the front control arms 1.55 inches each. Over all 3.1

Re: chassis swap question

Check the clearance at the foot wells and bed height, if I remember right those are the big issues besides the basic body and front clip mounts.

The frame on the c-10 is actually narrower than that of the 47-54. I didnt belive it when I measures it. Ive put a 47-54 on 79-87 Gbody. i had to clearence the bottom of the cab at the front rocker and that was all that it needed to fit right. Im going to bag the one on the 60s frame so bed mounts dont matter. Itll be after the 1st of July when i start but ill post pics.

Greaser50 you do realize that this thread had been dead since November 11 2010 when you answered it? We all get burned answering an old thread that we found when we Google something and a forum comes up with something similar. Welcome to the board.

Re: chassis swap question

well then I guess that I will get my answer because he answered a dead thread, because I was wondering the same thing, I am about to put a 56 onto a 66 chassy and wonder what I should look out for other than the body mounts.
