Fleetside Rear Coss Sill

Is the rear cross sill on the fleetside welded to the bedsides? Having a hell of a time getting it off!

I believe they not only bolted them together, but spot welded them too.

I had a terrible time getting mine apart! Good luck.

Mine was on my 66 GMC- it was a bear to get it loose without a lot of damage.

They are attached to the bed side on each end with two bolts/weld nuts, you can look up underneath, to see them and from the factory there are two stitch-welds on both ends...one horizontal weld on the top flange of the rear cross sill-to-rear bed pocket and one vertical weld on the face of the rear cross sill-to-rear bed pocket. These are easily removed with a 4" Zip wheel/cutting wheel, without damaging the cross sill or the bed side bed pocket.

This has been posted before and I thought I had some photos, but I am not able to recover them. Perhaps, someone else will have them available to post.

should actually be 4 bolts on each side right? along with the stitch welds.
