Lowering My Four Bye...
Hey guys, new to the forums, long time reader. I have a 1970 GMC Jimmy currently named "The Big Green Monster" Since it is not a "Transformer" from the movies I guess I have to build it myself...
I want to street rod this beast and I don't know where to begin. Always used to building cars and this looks a little tricky fro a suspension standpoint. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I keep hearing I need to install a 2wd cradle? and it installs with 6 bolts? Also do the upper A arms mount onto the two holes in the frame where they "LOOK" like the should go. Man, I am lost. Not because I completely don't know what I am doing but because a lot of components need to come out of this truck. Front Dif, transfer case, refitted drive shaft for one... Any tips or resource guidance would be hugely appreciated. I plan to start a blog on this beast. I live in North Georgia about 50 mi north of Atlanta so if there are any fellow C10 owners, I am looking to hang out and talk truck. Thanks for your help! |

Re: Lowering My Four Bye...
Welcome to the board.
A little lost by your post, are you making a 4x4 into a 2wd or rodding a 4x4? There was a thread last year that discussed lowering a 4x4 and IIRC had all the reasons listed why it's a fairly tough thing to accomplish. As for any tips, the board is loaded with threads on this subject, might even be a few hiding in the FAQ section. |
