Re: stock fuel pump

No, it won't hurt anything in itself, just be sure it's good so you don't have any fuel issues while trying to start it for the first time for cam break in.

Re: stock fuel pump

No, as long as it wasn't giving you problems before the rebuild.

Re: stock fuel pump

If you don't know the history of it, it's a good idea to replace it because if the diaphragm ruptures then it could end up filling the motor with gas. A stock replacement at the auto parts store is pretty cheap. If you've replaced it before and you know it's good, then don't worry about it.

Re: stock fuel pump

It really depends on how far you went with the build. If its a bigger cam like 280duration 480lift then iD suggest a high volume pump. If its close to stock than you should be fine.

Re: stock fuel pump

A stock fuel pump is like 15 bucks is it really worth using the old one?

Smile Re: stock fuel pump

Mr T, the cam is an RV 224dur/465 lift. Put new roller rockers valves tapped new springs, new pushrods, crank turned new pistons/redone rods 40ov cyl 40ov. I thought with more hp the pump needs to be changed to a higher gph.
also am dressing engine. Also have new edlebrock carb and ed manifold. Enclosing some pic of engine and truck.

thanks for your input

Re: stock fuel pump

Stock style pump would likly be ok. But I would recommend getting a high volume pump. You dont want it running out of gas at wot.
