I Need Some Advice/Opinions
Hey guys, I was on my local CL and I found this truck. It's a 1981 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 350. I have seen it around and it is a pile of rust, but I was wondering if I should even consider it since I'm wanting a 4x4. Look at the ad and let me know what you think I should do.

No way would I pay $2k for that. I don't care how good it runs. Look around, there are a lot of trucks out there to choose from....

No.
Rust, Axle's busted, it hardly looks straight, and worst of all you don't get the swampers. There's tons of these trucks around, there not too hard to find.

Re: I Need Some Advice/Opinions
Ok, here's another truck that I found that I can probably go look at for someone if they're interested in it. I know it's not a 4x4 but I wouldn't mind having it.
http://quadcities.craigslist.org/cto/1584384289.html I also found this one. Does it sound like a good deal to any of you? I emailed the guy saying I'm interested, but I'd like to see some pics before I go farther. http://rockford.craigslist.org/cto/1584709545.html

Re: I Need Some Advice/Opinions
The second one sounds like a pretty honest or fair deal.

Re: I Need Some Advice/Opinions
Well guys, I went and looked at the truck in Wyanet today. It is in better shape than I thought. The entire rear half of the frame was wire wheeled and the bed bolts were replaced with stainless hardware. The box only has rust in the wheel wells unlike mine, and the truck is virgin steel with rust, no bondo anywhere. The engine was rebuilt a year or two ago, it has a brand new Edelbrock carb, new hoses, and he has all the receipts for all the parts he's put into it. The truck is still drivable (test drove it) and it has 3:73 Posi in the rear. I realized that i know the guy that is selling it, he used to be my neighbor when he was my age. So I made an offer of $1,500 on it and he said he would consider it, since he knows me and knows I'd take care of it. He's in no hurry to sell it, but he just needs something more gas friendly.
BTW, I found out that the wheels and tires he's including with it are factory 16's with a good set of Mud Kings on them.
