Hope your truck's a 3/4 or 1 ton. 1 too many lug holes for a 1/2 ton.

Update: I just noticed that you got the SSBC rear calipers. Not sure if they require the E-brake like the Caddy calipers do. For $200, you got a killer deal! Last edited by chevyrestoguy; 02-04-2010 at 10:32 AM. |

Thanks. Thats good info about the E brake. Some early Chevrolet vehicles have an external residual pressure valve that screws into the master cylinder and the line hooks into it. Later models have this valve internally. With that said the external kind you can drill out the valve and reuse otherwise you must get a new one.

Re: Rear disc kit & front rotor's score!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will you have to change the proportioning valve to run rear discs? I've read both yea/nea on this.

Re: Rear disc kit & front rotor's score!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The guy I bought it from did change it,He said he had problems bleeding the brakes and bought one from Jegs,I also got the proportioning valve to,But I was going to put an ajustable one in the rear insted of changing the one in the front because it's alittle hard to get to!!!!!I have to do some research to see which one is best.

Re: Rear disc kit & front rotor's score!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You will also need a new master cylinder. The old master cylinder has a residual pressure check valve built into it. If you leave the old master cylinder on there will be approx 10 to 15 PSI left in the brakes to the rear. Normally on drums this keeps the wheel cylinders from leaking. But on a disc setup this small amount of pressure will cause the caliper to drag and overheat and wear the pads rapidly. Many people don't change this when converting to 4 discs and don't understand why the rears keep wearing out so quick.
