T221/sm465 swap from T221/3sp
I have searched and found a lot of information around swaping in and out sm465's but most of the info had a 205 as the tc. Can I assume that a 465/221 combo will fit? I undersdtand the clutch changes, but as far as the TC back the existing drive shaftes and cross members should be reusable? I want to make sure I know what I am getting into. The 465 is already connected to the a 221 so the adapater most be correct. I hoping just to remove the 3sp and adapter and bolt in the 465 with its adapter. After rebuilding the 465 first
Thanks as always, Don Last edited by 67gmcstepside; 02-05-2010 at 01:07 PM. Reason: spelling |

I have a 68 short wheel base 4x4 and it has the factory 465/221 combo in it and if you have the right flywheel, clutch, and bell housing for the 465 you shouldn't have any problems. especially if you already have the 221 t-case with the cross member. from what i've found the 3 speed is the same in overall length.

I found this for you,
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...&parentId=58-0 it would depend on the flywheel size it looks like but if you get it there you get all the parts needed from the flywheel to the throw out bearing. |
