Presidents Day Off:C-30 work

Hi all,
Did have to spend a morning at work on a day off to move snow. Yet following that I did get an afternoon 'holiday' to get the title work done, install a horn, horn button, remove the "red box" this truck came with on the flatbed and get this "new" truck through the safety lane. Passed and stickered and road legal with tags!

Last November I bought a 79 c-30 that came with simulators.

Since I bought this 'new' dump bed' c-30 I decided today to take them off the '79' and install on the '85'. Here are a few pics of the end result of that project today and this truck without that red box on the back. Sorry bout the weather in the pics but I ran out of daylight it started snowing again.

About the only other improvement for 'looks' at this time will be a billet grill and new chrome bezels ordered from LMC. Maybe new clearance lights as the old ones rubber seals are not the best. But for now...I am making progress on my "list" for this truck's rehab/rescue.

And as of today it is now road legal!

Slowly but surely it is changing for the better.

I also need to get rid of those advertising signs on the back flaps and find some blank ones!

Didn't notice them until these pics.

Re: Presidents Day Off:C-30 work

Actually the goal was to have a nice heavy duty flatbed truck, preferably a dump bed, for a work truck our place in rural America when it was needed. (not a daily driver but also something to 'play/work' on too) Got the best choice with the 85 even though I am partial to the round headlights too. Yet having finally found this '85', it is the "keeper". Going to be looking for a 350 now to rebuild on the side as time and money allow so eventually there will be a fresh new motor ready when the time comes. ...and the project will never end!

My wife thinks I have retired from 'garage queens' and gone practical...maybe I have...but only to a certain extent.

Shoot them black or just reverse them. You can also round up some plain black ones and attach the Chevy grill emblem. Get junkyard emblems since they'll get exposed to road debris.

Re: Presidents Day Off:C-30 work

Thanks Bob! Don't recall ever being "nominated" for anything except hard work! Appreciate the compliments.

Yes, I didn't notice those advertising "signs" until that pic was posted. Anyone know if any are made with just the Chevy emblem/logo?

Pondering just spray bombing these black real soon if nothing else for now!
