Dropped the 64 2 inches in the back
My Son and I decided that the rake on this truck was to much so we decided to drop it 2 inches in the back using blocks. I really like the way the tire fills the wheel well now but now the front tire looks to small and its at the stock hight. I think I am going to call it good and not mess with it anymore. What do you think?

Beautiful truck. Now, put it back in the garage and never touch it again.

Re: Dropped the 64 2 inches in the back
i think it looks good...if you dropped the front any, i think you'd be back at the rake issue...i guess you decided against doing the trim to break up the red?

JRBECK64 I agree with the Idea about if I lower the front I will still have a Rake issue. I think its as good as it gets. |

Yeah ill have to agree with nick there^^ that paying for your own stuff makes a difference in how you treat it, especially when you buy your own tires Last edited by scotts62; 02-22-2010 at 11:40 PM. |

AMEN Nick's 81,
To give credit to my Son where deserved he did pay for the New Chrome Grill, Seat Upholstered and the Grant Steering Wheel. So he has a little invested. Once the 67 Shortwide and the 69 Long Fleet are done its time to do My Truck. 56 ShortStep Bigwindow (CANT WAIT)!!!!! JRBECK64 |

Re: Dropped the 64 2 inches in the back
Now that I have it dropped with the older diff and trac bar set up I am having huge problems with my Exhaust out the back. I think I am going to have the exhaust ran out the front of the back wheel so I wont have to worry about clearance problems. The 60 10 Bolt I put in it with 3.08/1 gears is great but because the trac bar pearch attached to the Differential is directly under the Exhaust it leaves maybe 2 inches of travel for the suspention before it hits the exhaust. The pipe thats in there that I want to replace is almost half smashed flat. Looks like I put the pipes out in front of the rear tires or I go back to the original 12 bolt with the 4.11/1 and call it good.

Have a question about the stiffness that I got in the back of the truck now that I have lowered it. If I put shorter springs in the back would that make it ride better? Im sure my Son can live with the ride but for us older guys that like the creature comforts I would perfer the easier ride. Thanks for any info you could give on this. JRBECK64 |

The two inch blocks go between the trailing arm and the perch on the Differential. Then I installed the longer U Bolts to make up for the extra two inches of blocks. I actually took this off my 67 which has the same rear suspention as my 64. JRBECK64 |
