Re: '68 crew cab on CL
Actually, I believe this was done from the factory and the interesting thing is that to save money, they just used 4 front doors. All 4 doors have a lock cylinder!

Re: '68 crew cab on CL
It wasn't done from the GM factory. A company called Scot-Bilt (or something like that) built these as a conversion. A lot of these went to logging and railroad companies.

Re: '68 crew cab on CL
There is a pretty good chance it hasn't. It was posted last friday and if it is still outside it probably has 3 ft of snow around it.

Re: '68 crew cab on CL
And that ad said it came with all four doors correct? I think that is an incredible deal for someone closer than I......

$1000.00 for the crew/cab and good doors. $3500.00 maybe less for the rust bucket (no offense). Less than 5k for a SOLID start on a rare commodity build.

That would make a sweet truck and that's less than I paid for my Crew when I bought it....

It would be an amazing deal with the one I found. I need to see if he will take the lowball offer.

Re: '68 crew cab on CL
I'm sure this originally came on a lengthened '68-72 frame but apart from duplicating that now, what would be the easiest/logical frame to put it on now width-wise? Length would be determined by whether you wanted a long or short bed but I'd think width soul be the critical consideration. I'm think the frame off a '73-87 crewcab, Dually (or not) would be close(?) are the '88 & newer radically different?

Re: '68 crew cab on CL
That would be sweet. Location and Location and Location. Oh and $...
I will say this. If I cant get it and someone here does I have a place to store it even long term if we can figure out how to move it. I dont think my little F150 could tow it.

Re: '68 crew cab on CL
You might have paid more.......but you got a damn nice start with the donkey. Body is pretty straight, it seems to me that whatever extra you paid was WELL worth it.

Re: '68 crew cab on CL
hart rod Your's is a WAY better lookin cab. The lack of those humongus "filler panels" between the doors is much nicer.I don't like the scot-bilt cabs. They look to 'home made' but the cab on yours is nice.-KB

I've still not called him back and made an offer partially because I think i'm affraid he would take it. They are unique but I'm not sure I want to buy one then have to put all that work into it. Pay now or PAY later i guess. All depends on how bad youwant an extended cab truck.
