Any one running a 283
I just bought a nice 283 for my 67 and I am looking for any pics of members that have this installed in their trucks. I am wondering about accessories and brackets for power steering. Best type of exhaust manifolds and any other info would be great.
Thanks |

Yep,
Got one, using stuff from alan groves for all the accessories and their power steering brackets and pulleys. I am using ram horns and they are fine. Pics coming. Smitty

Re: Any one running a 283
If the heads on the 283 have the acc. holes in them all the brackets from pretty much any small block chevy will work. If not you will need the older style brackets (drivers side alt.). I am running one in my 67 lwb 4x4 and it works great for what I use it for. I will see how well it pulls my boat this summer though with the 3.08 gears. I am also running the rams horn manifolds, unless it is a race built 283 I dont think headers would make that much of a difference.

Re: Any one running a 283
Mine is on a 71 4x4 chassis so I got the disk breaks up front. I have a dana 44 rear from a 67 gmc that I might use then I will just need to change out the front gears. Towing around here is really no big deal the biggest hill around is 80 miles to the east and the converter wont even unlock on the sub unless you are towing something.
