65 frame question.
I bought my truck about 2 months ago and the truck has factory powersteering and 5 lug wheels all around. I know the trucks only came 6 lug. how do I tell if this is a later year frame and what year did chevy start factory powersteering and 5 lug patern.

Quote:
Dead give-away should be the front frame horns. 6x-66 front frame horns are physically shaped different vs. post-66 trucks that came w/pwr steering & 5-lugs. Factory 5-lug set-ups started in 71. 5-lug (disc) set-ups & power steering are easy to swap to a 65 6-lug drum brake equipped frame.

Re: 65 frame question.
The vin# should be stamped into the frame near the power steering pump. In my case I found that the vin#'s were different on my cab and frame (Cab 64, frame 65).
