Is this a Dana 60?

I've always assumed that my truck had a Dana 60 in the front, but today a guy said it looked bigger than a Dana 60, he said: "looks like it could be a Dana 70" ..My truck is a 1990 Chevrolet V3500 Crewcab

Re: Is this a Dana 60?

Dana 60 and 70 look very similar. The main difference is in ring gear diameter, but you can't tell that from the outside. The easiest way to tell is from the cover. 60s and 70s use the same cover, but the casting of the 70 is bigger and part of it sticks out around the cover.

I've got both a Dana 44-8F and Dana 44-5F that are six lug
I've also got a Dana 44-8F that's eight lug

I don't think it means much at all.

Re: Is this a Dana 60?

You got a 60. If you look at a front 60 right next to a front 70, you will see the difference. The 70 is HUGE, it's like comparing the 60 to a 44...

Re: Is this a Dana 60?

Just a side note
D60 has king pins and on the passenger side two spring plate bolts to the axle.
D44 & corp 10B have ball joints and use u bolts.
