Quick Question
Am I correct to assume that a '78 sierra classic 15 sub is 1/2 ton? I dont know what # on them means 1/2 or 3/4 ton.

Yes that is a 1/2 ton. The GMC's used the 15 to designate a 1/2 ton and 25 for the 3/4 ton whereas Chevy used the 10 and 20

OK, thanks.
So if i got it correct then 1000, 10 and 15 are 1/2 ton 1500, 20 and 25 are 3/4 ton Well, now I know that my local yard has no 3/4 ton cross-members. Only thing they got not 1/2 ton is 4x4's Is having a 1/2 ton front going to reduce my load capability's much? Are there any real major strength differences? |

From what I've read of how you use your truck as a truck I would stay with the 3/4 ton front suspension. You might have to make a trip down to Spokane to Pull and Save to pick up a 3/4 ton front suspension.

Thats what I was thinking. afterall, I really do want to keep it 8 lug all round so I can have a spare thats not drilled for 8/6 or 8/5. I had a 8/6 I drilled for a spare but it dissapeard First I'll check around here with all the ppl that have a field full of old cars and trucks.
