Well after a few months of waiting, my new to me 1986 C10 LWB was delivered to my house tonight. It is tucked safely in the garage where I will begin inspecting it tomorrow. Current known issues are, it will run with gas poured down the carb, and the brakes are soft/possibly not working. I only saw the truck once before tonight and it was in a poorly lit storage unit so I am very excited for tomorrow morning!

I do have one question for the forum. I am in need of new door lock cylinders with keys. Where is a good place to order/buy these from? Thanks and pictures will be posted tomorrow.

i have bought them from classic industries, you can buy them at your local auto parts without a doubt. The reason i got mine at classic industries i because they have the set with one key for everything including the ignition, no more fumbling with 2 different keys.

I took pics but did not have time to upload them. Today was full of excitement as the temporary daily driver decided to mis-fire on 3 cylinders and not start while I was at the auto parts store. It's my in-laws car so I bought new plugs and limped the car home. Once at my house the car ran perfect. We'll just say I hate dodge products. Now on to the truck. I drained the gas/oil mix out of the engine and added some new oil only! Installed a battery, poured some fuel down the carb and she fired up for a few seconds. Re-connected the fuel line, repeated and got it to run with some pedal pressure. She didn;t want to idle and ran rough. This could be the 5 year old gas or that it needs a tune up. I have decided to throw away the quadrajet and pick up an Edelbrock. I will also be removing any and all emmisions components as they are not needed.

The truck seems to be fairly loaded as it has A/C that still has pressure in the system (crosses fingers it still works), Cruise control, and tilt column, cloth bench seat, and matching cloth headliner. It is 2wd and has a 305 with a 700R4 behind it.

I did notice that the fuel gauge is stuck past way past the full mark. Any ideas on where to begin troubleshooting this?

The front half of the Brake Resovoir was very low, and I was told that the pedal is soft so I will begin tearing into the rear brakes tomorrow morning.

I did sit in the truck and click on the am/fm radio and smiled as Don McLean's - American Pie came on. Made the day better right there.

fuel gauge is probably a bad ground on the sending unit on top of the tank...

Hey sweet deal that's awesome congrats! Yea I would check wires on the sending unit. Defiantly get rid of all that old gas just gonna gum up your motor n cause you tons of headaches buddy! Good luck sounds like a fun project

This brings up another question than. How do you get rid of old gas. I have no idea how much fuel is in the tank, but am planning on dropping it tomorrow.

well if your gonna drop the tank turn the ring pull the sending unit out and drain the tank, and put a new sending unit in it if your gonna have it down...and if its been sitting a couple of years it might not be a bad idea they are pretty cheap and you might as well put a new fuel filter on it too............I love spending other peoples money........I have to spend someone's cause the old lady spends all of mine....haha

I have the air cleaner assembly, was removed for carb tinkering.

The bed cap will be donated to the local scrap yard once the truck is running, unless my for free add pans out locally.

Spent money today! Bought a new Edelbrock 650 carb, adapter plate, egr block off, proper studs for trans and throttle cables, and shiny chrome air cleaner. I removed most of the emissions components and just finished welding the exhaust manifold bungs shut. I had to pick up some longer carb mounting studs and am hoping to hear the truck run tomorrow!

Another good day today! Got the truck running and she purrs nicely. Replaced the Master Cylinder, front Calipers and rear wheel cylinders. Just picked up a lot of brake line to replace the falling apart rear line. Hoping to have a functional truck tomorrow and new pics will be taken!

Thanks Bob! I had my doubts on this purchase but after hearing the engine come to life, I am back to positive feelings. The plan for this truck is to drive it through the summer and drop a 472/TH400 caddy combo in before snow flies.

All new rear brake lines are installed but have no fluid to the front calipers. Either the proportioning valve is stuck or I have some collapsed lines. Troubleshooting will commence in the morning! Also installed my wood Grant steering wheel from my previous C10!

After replacing all the front brake lines today I finally have some brakes. Feels like I need to adjust/bleed the rears again. She was good enough for her first drive in at least 10 years. Rinsed her down with the hose and snapped some pics. Tomorrow I need to tune the carb some more, repair the non-working headlights, install the tach, and remote satellite radio since I want to retain the stock stereo. She does blow some grayish/white smoke every once in a while which has me a little worried, but I do have a complete 350 for my project car that I can throw in if needed. Ok enough babble here are todays pics.

I picked it up for $1500.00 not running, which in hindsight may have been a little much, but the truck is fairly rust free for this area and it only has 112000 miles on it. I think total including the price of the truck I have about $2300.00 into this vehicle. Thanks for the compliments, the truck will look alot better without that cap on the bed.
