SBC Headers with NV3500?
Anyone running an NV3500 behind a SBC with full length headers? Any issues with clearance at the slave cylinder? I have NIB ceramic coated mid length headers for an '89 that I know will work with this trans but not sure about the '66 body and frame. Besides I really rather run full length headers anyway. TIA

We'll have to compare notes, I'm just "down the road" in Western IL near the QC.

Re: SBC Headers with NV3500?
I have my doubts that those '89 headers are going to fit the '66 frame. The '88 and later pickup frames are a bit wider than the '87 and earlier frames. Do you have the engine and trans in the frame yet?

Re: SBC Headers with NV3500?
No but it has a 350 and the SM420 in it now that are coming out. I can try the headers for frame fit when we pull the old engine. They are leftover from an old project, I just thought I might be able to use them if full length headers won't clear the clutch setup on the 5 speed.

Re: SBC Headers with NV3500?
I used 88-94 pick-up shorty's on mine and they fit. Dont know about the long tubes, however.

Re: SBC Headers with NV3500?
Not mine, those were the pics from the eBay auction. Mine is still a greasy lump in the corner of the garage and boxes of parts in the computer room at this point. It's off to the machine shop soon though.
The slave cylinder mounts in a kickout in the bellhousing near the starter. |
