Factory interior color
My '70 burb has medium gold metallic paint, the interior RPO is listed as "4657AG Gold Custom Cloth T", but it is obviously white and appears to be original. LMC lists an interior color as "off-white" which I think is accurate, I'm just curious if GM had some official color name that might help me while I'm trying to scrounge a couple decent original door panels. No doubt I'm thinking too hard, as I'm sure there were only so many colors available. It would be very nice if somone had a code key for these trucks.

Re: Factory interior color
I had a 70 like that, its just a very light shade of gold. If you compare a "off-white" or "parchment" color to it you will see its not really white. Im not sure if the repo that color of interior.

Re: Factory interior color
Show us pics of your original seats.
The Gold Custom Cloth, is a gold cloth insert sewn into the off white vinyl seats. Your Door Panels & Cargo area Panels are Off White, it was your seats that had a Gold Cloth insert sewn in. Like the 1972 Highlander plaid, is just Off White vinyl seats with the Highlander Plaid cloth inserts sewn in, or like the Houndstooth cloth inserts, and so on. Re: Factory interior color
My seats don't have a bit of "cloth" in them. That's what kind of threw me (unless you count the seatbelts). And I do really believe they are the original seats. They are just an off white vinyl. My goal is just to find a decent proper-color replacement for the driver's door panel, pictured below. A third-door panel would be nice, too, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Factory interior color
Zac, the seats in your Suburban have "WITHOUT A DOUBT" been recoverd in the past, when they did it they just mached the color after the originals wore out.
Also know this, even the standard no cost interior had a pattern embossed in the seat vinyl, and your truck has the Optional extra cost Custom Cloth interior. Your truck came from the factory with Off White vinyl seats & Gold Cloth Inserts, the seats had the same fancy scroll work embossed in them as your door & cargo area Panels. They did not put plain vinyl in the 1967-72 Chevy & GMC trucks. But you may be in luck, I am geting rid of all my Suburban stuff, I have Off White Door Panels, Ill send you pics of them when I find them. Also I do have Factory Lit for 1970 GMC Trucks, it has pics of the different seating & interior options. Look at the pics see how the seat all have embossed vinyl even the no cost standard seats Look at the Suburban, see how the vinyl shines but the Custom Cloth insert does not? Also look at the center of the seat see the fancy scroll work that comes down the seat, the same as your door & cargo panels. Zac, I'll let you know about the door panels that I have. Steve |

I hate to de-rail the thread but can you tell me what color is the carpet in the photo with the light green interior? This is what came in my truck but it had a mat and I cannot find any carpet to match. Back on track now

Your truck came from the factory with Off White vinyl seats & Gold Cloth Inserts, the seats had the same fancy scroll work embossed in them as your door & cargo area Panels. They did not put plain vinyl in the 1967-72 Chevy & GMC trucks. well my 68 burb has a plain vinyl in it. no scroll work in any of the panels but it does have it on the seat (which is a different color) any may not be orig to the truck. it is a very low option burb as well

Re: Factory interior color
As I said even the no cost standard seats had a basket weave embossed vinyl, the optional extra cost seats had scroll work embossed in them.
When I say plane vinyl, I mean with no pattern embossed in them at all. They did not do this in 67-72 |

Re: Factory interior color
Thanks guys! Steve, let me know what you come up with and thanks for your effort here. I was going to say that I was just going to throw a seat cover on the front seat and run it, but then I saw the pic of Gary's back seat. That's pretty cool.

Re: Factory interior color
Does that book have pictures of the seat pattern for a 1968 suburban?

Re: Factory interior color
No this book is for 1970, I'll have to look at my other books and see what I have on 1968.
Stay tuned! |
