Some lowering questions

I am sure this has been covered a billion times, but I couldn't find a definite answer so I'm gonna ask for one .

I have a '76 2wd Blazer that the PO decided to make look like a 4wd by using 3" blocks and coil over shocks in the rear and longer front coil springs and coil over shocks on the front...and I HATE IT THIS WAY! It's time to drop it.

I only want to lower it about 3-4" in the front with a spindle and coil spring. I have read a lot about issues with lowering the rear. I want to lower the rear about 4", but I know there isn't a shackle/hanger set up for these. I have the brackets to do the flip that I made for my '87 so I can do the flip, but what leaf springs do I need to get to put back on it to "raise" it to the 4" mark?

I think Travis used the 4x4 hangers to raise it back up an inch.

I thought I read somewhere that you could use the 4x4 leaf springs from a later model or something to achieve this too?

You both are close, but I did use 4x4 leafs off 2door 92-95 blazer/Tahoe, not sure if the 96-99 will work. But I used this with the flip kit.

Travis, I thought I saw that somewhere. If I get the leaf springs from the 92-95 4x4 Tahoe and use it with the flip kit, what kind of drop should I expect?

I totally missed that leaf spring trick. There's so many tricks to lowering these I'm not sure I'll ever get a good handle on it.

I went and got a set of the '95 4x4 rear leaf springs today. I have to wait for the spindles and coil springs to get here and then it will "begin". Hopefully this will work out...I have a lot of faith in Travis though!

Well today i went to go buy some parts for my blazer, i was originally going there for tailgate and back glass but came home with more than that!! on this parts truck that i found was a bell tech rear shackles and lowered spindles and springs. when taken off the right rear shackle i noticed that the shackle was pinching the fuel neck hose, i will keep my eye on this thread and keep u guys updated on the installation! I do want to go as low as possilbe without cutting the floor ane removing the rear seat. Please keep us posted on how the 92 - 95 leaf springs work for you!! thank you

It's been done before. This is from some friends of mine helping me with my '79 in one of their shops.

This one of my bud's, he learned to weld in a muffler shop. He cut up my fuel filler neck and welded it back up with a few bends in it then finished it out until it was water-tight.



Here it is on the truck.





Works well.

Flip is 2 much of a drop. Leafs are what is go with and what I plan on going with.
