Is Anyone running 73-91 suburban seats in their 67-72 burb? if so... please help!
So I hit a couple of cali's finest pick'n'pull yards today.
I came across a 77 burb with nice interior. It was pretty clean, all vinyl in blue.. but had a really cool jump seat in it. I had not been in one of these since the 80s It sparked my interest to retro fit the 73-88 suburban interior with the cool hinged/latched jump seat and removable 3rd row. I would get them recovered to match a pattern for my 72 burb so it would look stock. I like the way the 73-91 suburban's bench seats look to be the same height as our seats. the benches look better and keep the clean lines in our trucks imo more than the newer 93 up suburban/tahoe/escalade seats. So.... my question is: Have any of you installed these into a 67-72? If so, how did you mount the latches for the 2nd row jump seat, and brackets for the 3rd row? fyi.. the latches in the 77 were mounted on the inside panel a couple of inches rear of the rear doors, and on the floor where the seats were mounted. Pics would be very nice if you got em, my imagination is dull Thanks brothers! Eric

about all I can say is the about the front seat... the floor in the 73 and up is not flat where 67 - 72 is. At a minimum you'd have to swap the seat track over. I also found my 78 front bench to be very flat and uncomefortable. Padded plywood is what it felt like to me. I was very unimpressed.

you might have to hybridize the mounting brackets but the seats will physically fit in the spaces. i want to go this route on my 72 burb. i will likely use the 2nd and 3rd rows out of my dad's 87 and have them recovered to match the original seat upholstery, although the 87 has nice medium blue all plush seats, replacement seat upholstery (especially custom deluxe) is very expensive, and the middle row would have to be custom restiched due to the 60/40 split.

I mockd up a set out of an 89 in my 72 ...front high backs with console and the middle 4 part bench. I was very pleased with the outcome of the middle. I could fold it down and it fit well. I did not like the front however. i had to make brackets, spacers and so forth and I didnt like the way it looked.

I eneded up going with stock benches. I would not have gone to the trouble to put a later bench in there. The middle would have worked great...you would just have to have the 2 style seats upholstered to match,

well....usually you open the door and put the seat down because that is the most comfortable way to do it. but with no 4th door, that is kinda hard to accomplish on our trucks from the driver side. you'd have to be mr. fantastic to reach the lower release lever from the open window.

I just got some new 20s put on today!!!!! They look great, but the front is an inch higher than the rear.. I'm gonna switch to a staggered set of tires soon.... but for now I am running 275/45/20 tires on all fours. My drop is a 5-7 static and I have NO rubbing!
