Re: Sun Roof Instillation

i agree with the others, but if you still want to do it......

use masking tape around where you are cuttng the roof

make you some wood spacers the right height to stick between the 2 walls before you sandwich it all together and tighten it.

double sided tape will help seal and keep everything butted up if you put some on the bottom of the sunroof frame lip and stick it directly to the top of the truck. but yes, eventually it will leak even if you install it and it doesnt.

Re: Sun Roof Instillation

I can't even count the number of trucks and cabs I've wanted to buy over the years only to find out that they have had one of those sun roofs installed. I just walked away from everyone of them.

Re: Sun Roof Instillation

Same here, I've walked away from some good deals because of them. Just not worth the hassle.

Re: Sun Roof Instillation

I don't thinkit's worth the hassle for a pop-up. I would never install one of those on my own truck. I would, however install an electric roof, the kind that actually open. I belive there are some out there that will work in a regular cab truck.

Sorry guys it's done already lol I have to admit it looks awesome with it in. was a little pain in the ass the paint chipped around the opening even with taping it. I water tested it all seems tight so far.

Re: Sun Roof Installation

My brother had one in his '91 GMC Jimmy. It was nicely done. I also had one in my '83 Caprice i sold a few months ago, it leaked in the left corner just a few drops when it rained but i never bothered with it because i had leather seats. personally i want one in my next C10.

Re: Sun Roof Installation

Nice Pic that is the exact sunroof I installed. I mean if it drips here or there I have leather seats and the cab has other leaky issues so. I doubt it will be like a a garden hose. I water tested it for 5 mins and it didnt leak so we will see.
