My 58 chevy build
Ive been looking at everyones builds on here so I decided to do my own.I bought this truck off craigslist about a month or two ago in hesperia,ca.the guy was asking $3600.I told him that my fiance would only let my spend $3000 and that I wanted to buy the truck to build in rememberance of my dad that passed in 95 that use to own a 59 apache. he told me that I could have it for $2800 since I wasnt going to part it out like everyone else that looked at it wanted to do.I was all over it.he even hepled me trailer it home to wildomar. It has a 283,mild cam, offenhauser intake,650 holley with a muncie 4 speed. Im going freshen it up and keep that in there for now since I dont have a ton of money.as for the suspension im going with a 4" drop axle for the front and a 4" rear leaf Total cost involved kit for the rear.

Re: My 58 chevy build
Nice start. Thats about how mine was when I got it in 76. It was originally light robin egg blue with a dark blue over paint too. If you get tired of the Muncie I will take it off your hands and give you a nice 350 auto.

Re: My 58 chevy build
Grinding those rivits and getting the laefs mounts off was a little chore not trying to annoy the neighbors.

Re: My 58 chevy build
I started to sand and remove the grease of the rear frame so I can apply some POR-15.

Re: My 58 chevy build
The carpet and the old 1970 motor home seats is what sold me on the truck

Orange shag baby! That was what I was stylin with in the 70's. Changed to indoor outdoor when I moved to Idaho, then just rubber over insulation.

Re: My 58 chevy build
So are you going to put back all the stuff that you removed from the rear, or are you going to install some trick suspension and axle assembly?

Re: My 58 chevy build
Yes, I agree, nice work so far. Are you planning to keep the 6 lug axles and wheels? With a 4" drop in the rear, what are you going to do for a drop of the front?

Re: My 58 chevy build
Thanks for all the comments guys.As for 6 lug Im going to keep it six for now.Im also going to use the stock rearend and keep the straight axle up front.I already dropped the front about 5".I cant find my pics when I do Il post them.I would like to do a mustang II front end and put disk all the way around but I dont have the money for that right now.lol so Im just working with what I got.I figure after I get the truck built I can do those upgrades later.
