350 idling problems?
hey i have a 1974 chevy 350 engine, and i just picked it up so i havent cleaned the carb yet or anything yet. it was running good for a week then it started to idle funny like it was miss firing. But when I rev it up theres no miss fires or anything. any help would be appreciated

I'd start with the easy things like pull the distributor cap and see what the contacts and the rotor look like, along with the spark plugs, plug wires, fuel filter and air filter. It could be the truck has been sitting for a long time and the contacts have deteriorated, the wires could be old and brittle, or it could just be a tank of old/bad gas.

Dont know if this is it or not, but I had a truck with a vacuum cap that would rot off and do that same thing. Run crappy at idle, but do just fine running along. I would look for a vac leak or rotten caps on the carb/manifold...cheap and easy place to start looking. Good luck.
