sway bar & fuel tanks
ok - lets talk about REAR sway bars. do aftermarket sway bar kits locate the bar behind the axle? if they do, will a rear mounted fuel tank interfere with the bar? i intend to have a rear bar on my truck. the only stock one i ever saw was on a 20 or 30 series we got some fenders off of & it mounted under the rear trailing arms & ran along the axle tubes one side to the other. it had litle helper leaves on it too behind the axle. i fgured i would never find a oem one. all this planning makes my brain hurt. thanks!

Re: sway bar & fuel tanks
did the bar you saw look like this:
http://www.low69cst.freeservers.com/CamaroBar.htm I'm not sure these trucks had OEM sway bars. my truck had the helper springs but the axle pads were missing due to a previous rear end replacement

Re: sway bar & fuel tanks
I second the Carmaro bar set up. I run a similar setup using sway bar I got off of a leaf springed truck at Pick-&-Pull. You mount the bar on top of the axle and connect to rear of the frame otherwise your shocks, springs and trailing arms are in the way. The Carmaro bar as well as the bar I found both are wider than the frame so you'll still have room for rear mounted tank.

Re: sway bar & fuel tanks
ok- this answers my questions. i dont remember what the one looked like on the truck we were removing parts from. owner was kinda funny (we've all seen that, huh?) & he didn't want anything removed from rear of truck & we were busy with fasteners that wanted to remain in their rusty homes. of course he crushed it later. ok so it's an 82 up camaro sway bar for me. all i had to do was ask some hot rodders! thanks!
