Re: frame question......s10 swappers

I just cut mine yesterday to finally mount the box. I started with an extended cab, so not sure if the length of the frame rails were different than the standard/long box, but I only ended up removing about 1/2" to get the rear cross sill to miss the frame.

Cheers,
Ted.

Re: frame question......s10 swappers

I did an X cab on a '54 and cut nothing off. Still have about 1/2" clearance. I modified the frame to be a 117 or so wheelbase.

What are you guys that use a LONGBED frame doing? There are 16" of frame behind the rear shackle mount where the X cab has 10".

There are tons of pictures out there, just need someone to come along and give an idea of how much they cut off the back. Take a look at his sig line, its got a link to his photo album.

Re: frame question......s10 swappers

I used an extended cab frame with a long bed (AD), and didn't cut any off clearing everything fine.

Re: frame question......s10 swappers

Raining like mad here so I haven't been able to get the S10 mounts cut off of the frame so I can set my cab on. Once I do that, I'll know! Like I said, the '54 on the X cab is about 6" shorter than the long bed. I'll have to decide how low I want the bed on the frame and then I'll decide what i want to cut off. The "splitter" bed is different from the "cyclops" (47-53 vs 54/55S1) but the cross members look to be in the same place. I think I'll end up needing to cut off about 4-6".

Re: frame question......s10 swappers

Well...it is later in the week so I thought I'd try to bring it back to the top to get an answer for those of us using a long bed frame.

Re: frame question......s10 swappers

Ok, ok, I'll answer. I used a long bed regular cab and cut 7 1/2 off the rear rails. I ground out the rivots holding the rear cross member and moved it forward to keep everything proportionate. Let me know if you need more info.

F what?? He's running a stroked Corvette motor with a Richmond 5 speed in that Snake! 383 and 3 pedals.

Exhaust is on the truck, Sins of Steel (the old Billetproof Detroit show) in the morning for us and Bill leaves at 3 am for Power Tour!

Thanks for the info on the frame cut off, guys. I'll probably start with the 6" and trim later if I need to. Depending on what we have time from, I'm going to try to get my cab mounts set up and maybe even cab it.
