Re: Who wants a 79 Sport?

I agree that its nice... but I think the ad is misleading: UP FOR AUCTION IS THIS VERY RARE, AND UNIQUE CHEVROLET HALF TON SHORTBOX STEPSIDE 4x4 WITH THE SPORT OPTION PACKAGE WHICH INCLUDES: A TWO-TONE PAINT SCHEME, AND FACTORY TRI-TONE PINSTRIPING! THIS IS A FINE ORIGINAL EXAMPLE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, WITH ONLY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR FOR IT'S AGE. THE FACTORY PAINT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, THE UNDERCARRAIGE IS SOLID, AND SHOWS VIRTUALLY NO RUST! POWERED BY THE ORIGINAL FACTORY 350 V-8 MATED TO A AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WELL EQUIPPED WITH POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, TILT, CRUISE, DUAL SPORT MIRRORS, DUAL GAS TANKS, CHROME BRUSH GAURD, LOCKING HUBS, AM/FM STEREO WITH CASSETTE, RALLY WHEELS WITH NEWER GOODYEAR WHITE LETTERED WORKHORSE RADIAL TIRES, AND A NEW DUAL EXHAUST WITH CHROME TIPS! THIS TRUCK IS PRICED TO SELL, SO DON'T WAIT, THERE CAN'T BE MANY OF THESE LEFT, AND CERTAINLY NOT MANY LEFT IN THIS CONDITION! ANY QUESTIONS CALL ME 517-881-9253 THANX, BEN

That is NOT factory paint... no build up around the emblems... surface rust everywhere under the hood, inside of bed and bed rails do not match; the front passenger side grill area is newer than the drivers side, rockers appear to be newly painted along with new seal plates, anyways just to name a few. I'm in no means a body man... and I'm not posting to put the "truck down". Just stating for others who don't know and/or don't have the "eye" to pick things out and would buy it unseen based on the description.

Thanks,
Anthony

Re: Who wants a 79 Sport?

Looks a little familier. I have that exact truck in my garage only 2wd. It is under the knife right now doing a frame off. I have only seen 2 Sport trucks so I have to agree they are getting rare.

Re: Who wants a 79 Sport?

is there anyone close to this truck that can look at it ....side stripes appear correct and original...tailgate may have been repainted as should have stripes on gate also ....truck looks pretty good and complete for a 100,000 mile short box....they sold about 1500 of the chevy sports each year but not many have survived intact....

Are all stepsides considered "sport" trucks? or is a sport truck not directly related to the stepside?

Sport was an option on stepside and fleetside trucks . Just makes the truck stand out with the special paint and it also makes it more rare . 80Sport that posted above is the man to answer Sport questions . He has a few .
