Cloth Blazer Seats
I've read a lot of threads, but still don't think I have it straight on the difference between blazer seats (CST vs Utility) or the upholstry option with cloth inserts.
If anyone knows of a good thread to point me to or a website, that'd be great. If not, can someone please explain: 1. What years were houndstooth patterns available? 2. What years were scroll patterns available? 3. Whats the difference between the CST seats and the others? 4. Are Cheyenne buckets the same as certain Blazers? Sorry if these sounds like stupid questions, but I don't know much about blazers but I'm looking to buy one tomorrow and trying to do all my research on it.

Re: Cloth Blazer Seats
I'm also curious about the difference. These are the original seats from my CST, which are considered utility buckets I guess.

Re: Cloth Blazer Seats
my90k5, the seats you have are the CST seats or "buckets", the utility buckets are a lot wider based and have metal backs and not plastic.
tubbedII- 1:Houndstooth was only available 71-72 on Cheyenne Super equipped trucks w/ bench seats. No houndstooth bucket seat truck/blazer came with houndstooth. 2: 69-70 has it's own style of scroll patterned seat, and 71-72 has the scroll pattern like the rear seat of my90k5 above. 3:see my above answer to my90k5 4: Truck bucket seats and Blazer buckets are the same. Some blazers though were equipped with "utility" buckets which are wider and did not come with a console. The only difference in the truck and blazer buckets are the mounting brackets. Trevor

Re: Cloth Blazer Seats
Thanks for clearing that up 71!
So, if truck and blazer seats are the same, are "Buddy Buckets" just bucket seats tied together by a frame? The reason I asked the question is because I'm looking to pick up a blazer and the seats need to be re-upholstered, but I don't want just vinyl...too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. I want something with some type of cloth in center. With a '70 CST blazer, were there any seats with a cloth center (both front and rear)? If so, does anyone know where the best priced place is to get them?

Re: Cloth Blazer Seats
Buddy buckets were a 67-68 truck and suburban only option. Blazers weren't introduced until 69', so there were never any buddy bucket blazers made. Buddy buckets are good for a bench seat truck as they bolt in the existing bench seat holes, but for a blazer, you would have to drill new holes.
As far as a cloth seat for 69-70. There are no cloth seat covers (OEM style) that anyone makes as there were no option as far as I know for cloth. The only cloth bucket seats ever made for 69-72 are the 72' Highlander optioned trucks and blazers. Highlander trucks and blazers featured a vinyl trim with plaid cloth inserts. You will not find someone making these seats as I believe the only place that carries the correct NOS plaid material is SMS auto fabrics. You would have to buy the plaid and set of reproduction seat covers, and then have a upholstery shop fit them in the seat covers. Your best bet is to have a upholstery shop make you some covers if you want cloth. If it still has 69-70 bucket seats in it, make sure you get 69-70 covers for them, as the foam shape is a little different between 69-70 and 71-72. Trevor

Re: Cloth Blazer Seats
Thanks again for the info Trevor. I picked up the blazer yesterday, so I'll take some pictures when I get home tonight and maybe someone can identify if they are 69-70 or 71-72 seats to make sure I order the correct covers when i'm ready.
