I guess it's time to post my old project...

Hi guys...

been reading on this site for a while. I figure it's time to post up my old truck. I've had this '86 C10 since spring of 1988... my senior year of high school. It was my daily driver from then until November 2002. It's been with me thru thick and thin. It's now got over 230K miles on the original 305... on it's 3rd transmission (original th350, then rebuilt, now 700r4). I put on Bell tech spindle and flip kit back in 1989 or 90. I've always had Rally's on it.. 8's with 295/50s in the back. Back then i had 7's with 245/60's on the front.. now 225/70s on 6.5's.

It's an original black Custom Deluxe with black vinyl interior. I repainted it once back in 1992 and now it's time for it's final restoration. It's seen it's share of moving, towing and abuse. There were times i thought of selling it, but i just couldn't do it. I still love this truck!

I just got it back on the road recently after a 8 yr hiatus..

It will remain pretty much the same look.. just freshened up. Then i'll finally swap in that 400 i've been hiding in the shop just for it.

I am glad to see the strong popularity of these trucks! I was hooked way back then and will always be! The '73-87's are my absolute favorite!

Jeff

Re: I guess it's time to post my old project...

thanks guys... reading about all your trucks helps push me. It's ironic though b/c i build race cars/ restore classic cars as a business. At the end of the day i am tired and it sometimes gets hard to work on my own stuff... haha!

But as my present for my 40th this year, i promised i would get it started..and finished! I've put all my other car projects aside for the time being. This C10 is long overdue...

That pic above is the 'good' side. I just picked up a driver's door (with same sport mirror) from the local pick a part this past weekend. Now i need to find a couple of nice fenders.

Just did a carb kit last week... still runs great!

Here is a pic from when i first got it back in Feb 1988... i just got back from the tire shop after getting a set of 275/60's all around! I cannot believe i've had this truck for 22 years!

like i said... after all those years of driving, moving friends' stuff, towing race cars and boats, parking lot rashes... It's long overdue. It won't have to see any of that hard labor anymore! I have my 2002 and 2009 GMC's to do that now! ( It still may tow my go-fast boat to the lake..)
