Spectre Performance Dual Cold Air intake...?

Hey guys I'm trying to find something really different to put under the hood. I ran across the dual cold air intake by Spectre Peformance. Check it out.

I always that spectre stuff was for autozone browsing ricers but I kind of like this setup. They may it for the 67-72 chevy trucks but not for the 73-87s

I was wondering if anyone else has usded a different setup or if I could modiy this one to work.

(I dont want a bunch of dryer duct work hanging every where. To me that looks more redneck than custom... Just my opinion. I'm looking for something clean and custom.)

I believe tvblazer has a similar design. Looks pretty killer to me.
Thanks!

If you want custom, it would be better to make one yourself , or have it made.

TVB's is totally custom (i think he built it himself)

It kind of looks like they are trying to mimic a turbo setup with a blow thru hat, except without the turbos

very well stated!!!!!!!

just get another junk yard air filter housing, hack the snout off it, weld it onto your other one.....

as for tube.... dryer vent may seem red neck, but you cant beat dual 5in intake (for no one sells them)

Re: Spectre Performance Dual Cold Air intake...?

The Spectre performance company was on the Hot Rod power Tour, this year. They have designs that fit trucks, cars and just about anything that is out there. It is really not the look that I would want, but it does work well.

Re: Spectre Performance Dual Cold Air intake...?

Buy the tube and install them on a ram air box. www.ramairbox.com. I'm changing mine to tubes.

My problem, I need 4" tubes!

I saw some where spectre has a universal kit that comes with straight, angle and bends of tubing and you weld it up or mark it, ship it back and they weld it!

Re: Spectre Performance Dual Cold Air intake...?

You can buy all that mandrel bent tube and make your own ducts.

Re: Spectre Performance Dual Cold Air intake...?

You can rig it up redneck style like many of these guys are suggesting or go to the Spectre website and build one from parts. They are affordable, and will give a clean quality look when your done.

Re: Spectre Performance Dual Cold Air intake...?

spend $350 and have the same thing everyone else has. or spend $30.50 and a few hrs building something of your own. sorry i will redneck my truck i like having something built not bought. sorry not everyone has a high dollar budjet for there builds. yall have some sweet looking trucks and i love looking at yalls builds and pics but i have to put alot more blood sweat and home work in my build. i can take the 300 extra from spectra buying parts and have my a/c going and new door window seals.

my wife laughed and said i need to call it the redazz penny pinchin under budjet build.

Re: Spectre Performance Dual Cold Air intake...?

butch86, I saw a great looking cold air intake at a car show recently. The guy had made it out of some 3" leftover exhaust tubing and sheet metal. I will have to find the pics for you when I get home. It looked way better that a spectre kit. There's nothing wrong with creating your own parts.

Is that a normal air cleaner that you can buy or is it custom made?

I made a cold air intake for my 300c Hemi with chrome plated mandrell bent diesel exhaust tubing and a cone filter. Cost me under $40 and looks the same as the $250 ones. I would love to make something cool looking for my c10. Something like your air cleaner with big chrome tubing and two big filters.

Re: Spectre Performance Dual Cold Air intake...?

Here's the pics I promised. Been busy sorry it took so long. The guy who built this truck said he had leftover pieces and parts from a 3" universal exhaust kit. So he and his friends came up with this. Looks darn cool to me.
