Need help with disc brake swap
Here is the problem .I have a 65 1/2 ton that I am trying to put disc brakes on . I rounded up the parts I thought I needed and now I have way to much positive camber . I think I may have the wrong spindles . They have 6 lug rotors and look like the ones on a 90ish pickup . The steering stops on the spindles are so short that the caliper bolt will hit before the stop . I got the spindles , rotors and calipers at a swap meet . I used lower control arms from a 85 3/4 ton . I put in new ball joints in the uppers and lowers . I took all of the shims and even the the thick washers from behind the upper control arm and still have to much camber . HELP .

Re: Need help with disc brake swap
do you have dropped springs? many times droppd springs require shimming or spacers of upper control arms

The springs are the stock ones . They sag a bit so it looks like dropped springs . The problem is that the top of the wheel is tilted out on the top . Even with all of the shims and spacers out . Last edited by 1965 Tuned Port; 07-11-2010 at 12:49 PM. |
