Neutral Safety switch purple wires
Alright brain e ac's. If my old 66 GMC didn't have a neutral safety wiring (3 on the tree converted to auto trans shift)(can't find neutral safety just the back up light's (two grns)), how would I wire up the two purples so as to get the neutral safety working. Thanks, Hutch

Re: Neutral Safety switch purple wires
I am a little confused here, you have the green backup wires connected? you want to know where the purple wires come from? where they connect?

Re: Neutral Safety switch purple wires
I've installed a 70's van column in the 66. I have the 2 grn wires for the backup's but nothing for the purple wires for the neutral safety hookup. I'm trying to figure out how to tie in/hook up the purple neutral safety wires. Hope that makes sense, H

Re: Neutral Safety switch purple wires
the purple wires come from the ign switch to the NS switch, should be on the left on the NS switch if memory server, one one one term the other on the remaining terminal, then on to the starter.

Re: Neutral Safety switch purple wires
Thanks Clyde. I'll take a look at these "little bitty" wiring diagrams and see if I can follow it. Need larger print/pictures for these eyes!

Re: Neutral Safety switch purple wires
I have looked and so far havent found anything thing that is worthy of helping you. I had a challenge myself when I switched my column out too, but this was a while ago. sometimes the PITA things stick in your mind though. Good luck, if I find something I will post and PM you.
found 1 picture, look familiar?

Re: Neutral Safety switch purple wires
In theory, if I cut/splice into the purple wire from the ignition run it in 1 side of the NSS and out the other side it should operate? I would like to add a kill switch under the dash as well. Thanks for the head scratchin, H
