Cast Iron Headers on a 230?!

I was wondering if any of you have used the cast iron headers available from stoveboltengineco.com I was considering doing the typical tube headers but I want an older look to the motor.

I have some on my 65. Work great. No interference with the clutch linkage either. Cast iron and should last forever. Running 2 and 1/4 pipe back to turbo muffs and 2" out the back. Installed by po.

X2

I own a pair on my 292 build, not run yet though. Very solid and very cool.
Nothing but praise for them when you ask around, like at Inliners.org

Thumbs up Re: Cast Iron Headers on a 230?!

They're very quiet. No ringing like on some headers. I got turbos on it so it's quite quiet. Another pic for you.

Geezer, it looks like you took off the heat plate in your second pic. Was there some kind of problem with it?

Re: Cast Iron Headers on a 230?!

The plate was leaking in one corner. Just a drip. Was a bad gasket. It's bolted to the Offy I'm gonna install next week. I'll post some pics of that later when I get it on.

Re: Cast Iron Headers on a 230?!

Thanks. I was afraid it didn't work, or maybe didn't work satisfactorily.

Re: Cast Iron Headers on a 230?!

It worked excellently. Without it the old 230 stumbles and pharts till it's real warm. Gotta use a bit of choke for awhile!!!

Re: Cast Iron Headers on a 230?!

Yes, these inlines need heat on the intake manifold. Without it your atomized fuel will puddle on the intake floor and run like crap.
