77 to 73 grille swap

OK guys-- I picked up a really nice factory 73 grille off ebay for 20 bucks (40 with all shipping) and wanted to put it in my 77 K5. I have always liked the older square grilles and jumped to get it when i had the chance. Got it today and figured i would swap it out real quick but after taking my grille out and lookin the situation over, looks like its gonna be a little more involved. The 73 grille hits the support for the hood latch and the 2 grille mounting brackets on either side and will not mount flush. Was wondering if anybody has done this swap, or if it can be done. Tried the search box and found plenty of clip swaps, but nothing just having to do with the 70s factory grilles. Once again, thanks up front as always.

Re: 77 to 73 grille swap

the center support and outer supports are particular to the 73-74 trucks. I think you have to swap out all three to make the grille fit.

yep the center, and two outer supports need to be changed. I also had to change the top radiator support panel and hood relase latches(not sure of the exact names). Pretty simple
