options for rear disc?
what options are there for putting rear disc brakes on my 64? I would rather not spend $600 bucks at one time for a aftermarket kit. There has got to be something that will swap from the junkyard. I already have 5x5 lug axles.

Re: options for rear disc?
Check out the parts board.... Captainfab makes some pretty cool and affordable conversion brackets. I believe he offers a couple different types of brackets, one for camaro calipers, one impala SS calipers, and one for calipers from most GM passenger cars in the 70s and 80s, including 3rd gen f-body calipers with e-brake. So all you would need to do is some shopping at the junkyard.
This is what I plan on doing once I have the funds to do so. |

Here is a link to one of my threads. Go to post #32 for a listing of the total prices involved in all 3 of the conversion brackets that I sell. Let me know which one you would like to get.

Re: options for rear disc?
thanks! I am doing some check now to see what I can get my hands on at the junkyard. Also I guess im old fashion, I have never used Paypal so I guess I will have to check in to setting that up first.

Re: options for rear disc?
Look at full size GM RWD cars from the 90s. These are 5 on 5" and at least some of them have rear discs. You could remove the calipers, brackets, and rotors and cobble some way to get them onto your axle housing. However, I think it would be cleaner to swap the whole rear end. You will have to weld on brackets for the trailing arms and panhard bar, but I believe that route would be less hassle overall than trying to do a disc conversion on your stock rear using salvage yard parts.
