Re: What type headers for s-10 swap?
Lol, looking for the same info, but for the 350 version of the S10 swap. I've got the 4.3 in mine right now and the stock headers fit just fine.
Cheers, Ted.

Re: What type headers for s-10 swap?
Ive got 67-81 Camaro ones on mine but I had to modify one tube onthe driver side to clear the frame. They make them for the v8 inthe S10 chassis but I didnt like the looks of them very much. Had a weird tube to clear the steering.

Re: What type headers for s-10 swap?
I used 88-95 chevy truck headers, bought them from KMJENT.com. The bare ones are 99.00 bucks, 1/2 to 3/4 inch of tube needs removed on the drivers side to miss the frame, but they are the best I found for the money. Here's a picture.

Re: What type headers for s-10 swap?
Another reason I went with these style/brand of headers is with the LT1 and the D shaped ports all the "V8-s10 headers would have not fully have cleared the ports size/shape. Dan your right about clearance, I've got to find the right combination of steering shaft. I was going with stock manifolds for 88-98trucks because of the steering issue but, junkyards was no differance in price vs. headers.

Re: What type headers for s-10 swap?
Where the tube meets the flange. I cut the tubes even with the flanges then chisseled out what was left in the flange. The easiest way is to bolt the flange to the head after that step then put the pipes in place until you get it right (you have to kick the bottom in toward the engine to miss the frame) I learnt this the hard way LOL. Do this and tack before removing. The rear tube will have to be cut for it to fit correctly which you can see in the picture. The picture in my post is actually not from my truck but, is the same headers and method of modification I have the chrome.

Re: What type headers for s-10 swap?
Keep in mind that you'll have more or less to remove depending on how far back you slide the engine. I used log type cast manifolds from a 70s truck on mine and they fit fine. Exhaust was a PITA because it is VERY close to the frame on the DS but it worked. I don't think you gain that much from headers to have to fight it that hard but I'd like to see a pic of your truck with the 88-98 headers AND the steering connected. I think mine is a wee bit close!

Re: What type headers for s-10 swap?
I was lucky with the combination. Enjenjo over on the HAMB lives near by and doesn't throw anything out. It took us a few trys but he had a top and bottom half of the collapsable shaft that we were able to assemble together and make the right length.
Yep, the LT1 does make a bit of difference, I was thinking good ole pre-87 SBC (ours is like a 64/65 model 327). |

Re: What type headers for s-10 swap?
I had z28 ram stle manifolds on my ZZ4 before I installed the headers. I like the headers better as I stepped up the horsepower. I have pictures of the manifolds if interested. PM e-mail address.

I used sanderson S10 V-8 conversion headers for D-port heads. They are shorty style. Fit is real good.
