Re: lowering questions????

I like Early Classic Enterprises. I have their 2.5/4.0 drop on my '69 SWB Chevy. Of course, there are other vendors including some on here.

Re: lowering questions????

CPP has a standard & HD bolt-in c-notch.
Porterbuilt has a bolt-in step notches @ differing heights depending on your needs.
SuicideDoors has step notches.
KP Components has step notches.

On your leaf equipped truck, a flip kit gets you around 5-6" of drop. To match that, you'll want spindles, dropped springs, & optimized shocks (different shocks or brackets).... or an aftermarket xmember.

If you want bags out back, your options are parallel 4-bar, converging 4-bar, 3-link, KP Components 6-link, Extensive metalworks 2-link (not to be confused w/a factory 6x-72 GM truck truck arm set-up), & aftermarket truck arm set-ups (Porterbuilt has one that allowns the rails to lay). To compliment these, you'll change out the front coils for bags.

That should be enough homework for now.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: lowering questions????

ok need a little help ..... I want to lower the rear of my truck it has leaf springs and i see that you can purchase a flip kit .... well i am too cheap to do that .... and i really don't want to hack the frame up... can i just take the spring apart and use like one or two of them to get my ride a little lower i mean i really don't want to be on the ground .... just a little lower like 1 or 2 inches would be great .... Thanks

Yes, you can remove leaves & it will drop the height. It will also lower the load capacity & allow a higher possibility of wheel hop under acceleration or braking.

Re: lowering questions????

I pulled the overload and the next spring. I also used a 1" drop shackle. Lowered the rear 3.5". No wheel hop, and still able to load it up if I need to.

Re: lowering questions????

Nothing right now. I have a 427 big block and a 350 turbo trans. I plan to use. The truck was a 305 with a 3 speed manual trans. Later on I'll probably swap out the trans for a 5 speed manual I just like shifting those gears ..... I put a link of a video i shot after getting it home.

Re: lowering questions????

I have a 350. Originally it had a th350, now it has a 700r4. I should add that it still has 3 springs in it.

Re: lowering questions????

Here is a side pic of my truck. Not the best but my street isn't very level. It gives an idea though. This is my truck lowered 3.5" all the way around. I am thinking of dropping the rear 1-2" more. I don't mind the rake, just want a little less. Sorry it's dirty, we had a dust storm the other night and I haven't had time to clean it yet. Hope that helps you.
